Leachate Management
Leachate is a liquid formed when water filters through landfill waste.
At Kimbriki a series of perimeter drains around the site intercept surface water runoff, diverting these waters away from landfill areas, and reducing leachate generation where possible.
The leachate that is produced, is collected by a series of pipes, captured and reinjected into dry landfill area.

Landfill Gas Management
As Kimbriki accepts only dry waste, not putrescible waste such as domestic waste, the landfill generates only negligible amounts of landfill gases.
Due to the high organic content of material processed through the vegetation and wood waste recycling operation, small amounts of gases may be produced at this area on site.
Gas monitoring is conducted in accordance with licence requirements for the area on a quarterly basis.
